Questions

Common questions

Short answers about common problems and how service works. If you’re unsure what’s wrong, call during business hours and describe what you see.

I think a garage door spring broke. What should I do?

Common signs are a loud bang from the garage, a door that suddenly feels very heavy, or a door that lifts only a few inches. Stop using the opener, leave the door where it is, and keep people and vehicles away from the opening.

Springs and their cables are under high tension and can cause serious injury. Please don’t try to adjust, release or replace them yourself — call us during business hours to arrange an inspection.

My garage door is crooked or off its track.

A door that has come out of its tracks can shift or fall. Stop using the opener and remote, don’t try to push the door back into place, and keep everyone clear of the opening. Then call us so a technician can check the tracks, rollers and cables.

The door is stuck open or won’t close.

This can come from the safety sensors, the opener, or a broken spring or cable. If something is in the door’s path, move it only if you can do so safely. Don’t force the door, and don’t pull the opener’s release cord while the door is open — a door with a broken spring can drop.

When you call, tell us whether the opener makes a sound and whether a sensor light is blinking. That helps us understand the problem before the visit.

How do you figure out what’s wrong with an opener?

We start by asking what you notice: humming or clicking, a motor that runs without moving the door, remotes or a wall button that don’t respond, or a door that reverses. At the visit, the technician checks whether the cause is the opener itself or the door — for example a spring, the sensors or the tracks — and explains what’s needed before work starts.

My electric gate is stuck or won’t respond.

Keep people, pets and vehicles out of the gate’s path. Don’t push or pull a powered gate, and don’t open the operator’s housing or control box — they contain electrical parts. Note what happens when you use the remote or keypad (nothing, a sound, a partial move) and call us during business hours.

How does repair pricing work?

The cost depends on what’s wrong, the parts needed and the type of door or gate, so we don’t list fixed prices on this page. Ask about pricing when you call. At the visit, the technician explains what’s needed before work starts.
